Mornings are generally calm at Swartriet and ideal for sea kayaking.
The coast is full of rocky outcrops, small bays and unspoilt beaches.
Take care as whales are often stumbled upon (June-November).
Other visitors include dolphins (Heavyside, Dusky and Commin
dolphins), penguins and seals.
Warning
Paddle at your own risk. Only experienced kayakers should venture
out into this ocean. Inexperienced paddlers must be joined by
an experienced and qualified guide.
Dangers include hidden reefs with unexpected breakers, fog or
strong Southerly winds. In summer the Southerly wind generally
picks up gradually throughout the day, reaching a maximum late
afternoon.
